The Cape Ann Animal Aid Association was founded in May, 1964 by the late Ruth Spoor and a group of fellow animal lovers.
Originally intended as a rescue committee for the helpless kittens and puppies abandoned by some casual summer residents, we have grown into a home-finding agency for cats and dogs on Cape Ann and beyond.
Over the years, we raised enough money to buy our present modest building at 260 Main Street in Gloucester, MA. The building is small but we have a cat area, a dog area, an isolation room, and outdoor runs for our dogs. We are currently raising funds to construct a new shelter.
