ABOUT US: Meet Darby, a boxer/shepherd mixed breed puppy, who is playful, affectionate and super excited about finding a family of her own. When Darby first arrived at our shelter, the veterinarians we work with, discovered she had an irregular heartbeat called premature ventricular contractions. After some consultation with specialists, EKG's and an echo-cardiogram Darby was put on a few different medications until we found the right medication and dose to help keep her heart beat more regular. Darby's heart condition means that she will most likely have a shortened lifespan but because none of us can tell the future and she is a positive sort of gal she lives each day happy with a "can do" attitude! Darby is looking for a family who understands that the only guarantee is that she will adore them more each day. Darby's heart condition means she will need more than the average pooch when it comes to veterinary care. In addition to a yearly exam her veterinarian may want to do an EKG to make sure her medication is working well or some other testing to make sure her heart is working as well as it can, so her new family needs to be prepared for some extra vetting. Darby's current medicine, Mexiltine 250mg (that she takes 3 times a day) costs about $52.00 a month, which breaks down to less than $1.80 a day, less than most of us spend on our morning cup of joe'. If you are willing to cut down on your caffeine to fit this gal into your budget she promises to make up for it in puppy kisses! |

You know, all these other cats roaming around, all these people in and out passing by my cage. I'm just a quiet little girl who wants a quite place to sleep and curl up. I spent some time at a foster home, just so the people here could find out what I was like out of the shelter. My foster mom says I'm a very sweet little girl, just a typical shy cat. Once I got to know her I would come when called and I even rubbed up against her legs. I love to have me ears and head scratched. I'm not a big fan of dogs or other cats, I'm hoping to find a home where I'm an only kitty.
