Happy tails from animals in their new homes!

We love hearing how our animals are doing in their new homes with their forever families. Here are some of the more recent updates we've received. Please note that additional happy tails are on display at the shelter.

If you have a happy "tail" to share about an animal that came from the Cape Ann Animal Aid,
please e-mail your story and a digital photo (if possible) to info@capeannanimalaid.com
Stories and photos can also be mailed to the CAAA at 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA, 01930.
Please note that stories may be edited for length.

bella_cookie

Bella is a great addition to the family. She is absolutely loves her sisters and her personal bodyguard Nick. When we adopted her she was recovering from her leg injury, and I'm happy to report she is 100% and runs like the wind. Lots of personality packed into a tiny package very sweet and funny. We are very lucky.

Thank you so much,

Anthony & Nancy

Jayden's (far right) adopter reports that he and his new friend, Zooey, have become family. Adding that "Jayden is a dear soul and we love him more every day."

dolcemooney

Hi,
This is an update on Emma [formerly Dolce-Picture on left]. So far she is doing great! She seems to get along with all the dogs in the neighborhood and even made a friend with one next door. She seems to like to go for rides and go to stores with us and say hello to all of the people. She seems to get cold easily so we picked her up some cozy clothes and she hates to take them off. She wound up being a very playful dog and and loves to cuddle up on people's laps and take a nap.

We also adopted Kiwi [formerly Moony- Picture on right] about six years ago.  She was extremely shy and scared when we first got her, but she has adjusted great! She even has a huge yard to run in and chase squirrels of course. She gets along with our older dog Allegra great--they're two peas in a pod.

Thank you,
from the Costa's

Hello,
We adopted Callie a few years ago from CAAA. She is a great cat! She is so smart. She knows exactly what she wants and lets us know. She even tolerates our newly adopted dog! She is definitely the dominate pet, drinking out of the dog bowl and making Gracie (our dog) wait! The best part is that she snuggles up with our 8 year old every night at bedtime! My 6 year old is now asking us for his own "cat like Callie" to sleep with at night! We love having her in our family! This picture was taken 3 years ago when my my son was only 4 years old! He still loves her just as much!
Thanks,
Kim and family

cinnamon

Good morning,

Here’s a picture of Cinnamon that came home with us right before Christmas ‘09. My biggest concern was our Siberian Husky, but as you can see things have turned out just fine.  She has been a great addition to our family. Thanks for all you do!

Hi,

We adopted Ollie (AKA Spike) in February 2010. He is the biggest social butterfly, talker, and he purrs very loudly. He is now an outdoor cat and loves to go in and out fifty times a day. We also adopted Stan who is now best friends with Ollie. Our dogs Shelby and Lucy just don't know what to think of him! Overall he is fitting in just fine with our family and we are happy to have him.

Thank You!

Hi,

Just a quick e-mail to let you know [about Helen's first night with us]. Helen picked out her dog bed, hasn't had an accident in the house yet, went for a walk, took a nap, ate her entire bowl of food, and here's a picture of when Sean came home to see our little lady :)

blitz

CAAA,

We adopted Blitz (you knew him as Hershey) two months ago. He was at the shelter with his brother Happy Feet. Blitz has been such a wonderful addition to our life. He spends his days chasing balls and trying to decide which of his many bones and treats to chew on. So far, his favorite are pig ears! He learned house training very quickly and learned sit, stay, paw, and roll over in one week. Blitz is most looking forward to visiting our summer home in Maine where he can swim and play on the beach all day.

We cannot wait to adopt another dog for Blitz from you in the future, and encourage anyone thinking about adoption to see you. It has been such a rewarding experience!!

Thanks again,

Caitlin and Jason

Hi!

We adopted Jackson (formerly Josh) back in September and I just realized I never sent you guys an update on how he's doing.

He has completely adjusted to having a place of his own and we love him him so much.  He has a lot of energy but can also relax with us when we're just hanging around the house.  His personality is hilarious, he is very vocal!!  He also chases his tail more than any other dog I have known!  Our next-door neighbors have two dogs that they got from you guys as well and Jackson gets to play with them at least once a day.

We are all getting sick of the cold weather and can't wait to start going to the beach again.  We plan to bring Jackson up north to go hiking this summer, which will be a big adventure for him.

Thank you so much for being a great shelter!!  We may be back soon to meet the cats!!

-Tara, Rick & Jackson

Hi There-
Just wanted to send photos of Nina and Skittles, who I adopted together last July.  As you can see, they are BFF's.  Skittles was only 7 pounds when we brought her home, and now she weighs over 10.  Love them to pieces!

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know how well Piper is doing with us. She bonded me with immediately and actually sits in my lap and lays on top of me in bed.  She is still a little nervous, but  is adjusting really well.  I changed her name to Lily as she is so sweet and I wear Lily of the Valley.

Thanks for giving me Lily.

Sincerely,

Diane

paulie

Hi there,

We thought we would send you an update on Paulie.  He is doing great!  I have never seen a happier dog - he is always smiling.  He is still crate-training but is almost there.  Here he is with his sister, Sophie.

Take care,
Christy

Hi,
Just wanted to thank CAAA for introducing us to Happy Feet. He is doing great and has adjusted to our cat very well. What a joy for our family! He is getting plenty of TLC and is coming along quite well with the house training. Just a very good boy!

Thanks Again,
Nathan, Larisa and Misha

xena

Hello everyone,
Wanted to let you all know Xena (formerly known as Queen) is adjusting great with us she loves to type on the computer and bite our toes at night. She is a very sweet and affectionate kitten and everyone who has met her wants her! She has most definitely found her forever home with us! She the little furry nutball we wanted so badly and we think she will be the next American Idol (she sings with me when I do karaoke).

Again thank you so much for helping us find our forever friend :)

To all of you at the shelter,
We just wanted you to know how much we love our cat. His name is Sid Vicious (because he's a trouble maker!) His name was Taylor when we adopted him. He had a twin brother, James, whom we hope is doing well. As you can see he fits right in and we adore him!

Sincerely,
Sarah C.

tommy2

Hi CAAA,

We adopted Thomas (we are going to call him Tommy) last Wed. Here are some pics of his first few days.  Just wanted to let you know that he is doing really well, doesn't bother our birds, likes the neighborhood dogs, sitting on the couch with us in the evening watching TV, taking walks, playing with lots of toys and sleeping on our bed (he prefers that to his own beds.)  He has adjusted very quickly to his new home and we hope to have him for a long time. I e-mailed some pictures to the rescue group in Georgia that sent him to you. We will stop by soon so you can see him and to bring some donations to the other dogs and cats.

Thanks, Jay and Sue

Hi CAAA,

I adopted Aubrey (formerly known as Autumn) from CAAA nearly 8 years ago after she head butted me from her third level location.  She's an estimated 16-18 years old now, but we just can't believe it's true.  She loves zipping around our new house in between long, restorative naps, preferably in full sunlight!  She remains very chatty and affectionate.  She has brought me immense joy, companionship, and comfort and I am forever grateful to CAAA.

Thanks!
Sarah M.

lola_pearl

Hi all,

Just an update for you I thought you might like to see and hear how Nona is doing.Well first of all her name is Pearl now. Pearl because we feel so lucky to have found her it is like finding a pearl in an oyster! She is such a great puppy and very laid back.  She has gotten very attached to us and sleeps in a crate in our room which she really enjoys. I leave the door to the crate open during the day and she actually goes in there to snuggle up on her sheep skin and take a nap. Lola (the Great Dane and Stella our cat)  have really adjusted well to our new addition.

Pearl spends a lot of time playing out side while I am gardening and then just curls up next to me to keep me in eye shot and takes a nap.  She already knows the sit command, which she does before a treat of a meal.  House training is going very well. Yesterday she went to the door and whimpered to go out and "do pee-pee outside", as we call it.

I have attached some pictures of her. Enjoy and thank you for our little Pearl.

Sincerely,
Sandy

Hi,
Thought I would give you an update on how Bailey is doing. First, we renamed him Dusty because our German shorthaired is already named Bailey.  He has adjusted to his new name quite nicely.

First month we had some problems with house training: I think because he was a little confused and the other dog would get him excited and he would have an accident. However, the past couple of weeks he has been outstanding and hasn't gone in the house at all.

We have been teaching him commands and some tricks. And although he chews up almost anything in sight, he has gradually gotten better with that issue and has the run of the house.

He gets along great with the other dog and is curious, but does not really
bother our 3 cats. He is a great little guy, with a nice disposition. He is rather calm by Brittany standards and walks calmly on the leash. He does enjoy his long walks and trying to chase down chipmunks in the backyard.

All in all, we are very happy to have him and feel lucky to have fund him.
He truly has become one of the family. Thanks for taking good care of him while he was with you.

Sincerely,
Moe

bobby fisher
We adopted these cats a while ago. Big used to be Bobby Fisher and Jetta (aka Sneaky) used to be Nips. I thought you would like to see them and maybe post them. Big is so loving and tame now and he and Jetta get along and are good buddies.
Merry Christmas 2009!

Hello Everyone!

These are some shots I thought you'd like to see of Shadow with us on our recent trip to North Carolina. We had 60 degree days on the beach, and he (as well as us) loooved it! He is very happy, has seen the vet twice now, and is doing excellent. He loves absolutely everyone and all animals he has come into contact with so far (which has been quite a few)! Thank you so much for this precious little friend! We absolutely love him

tessy

To Cape Ann Animal Aid,

Tessie (formerly Kiki) is a rescue dog from Puerto Rico . My wife and I adopted her from Cape Ann Animal Aid in May 2008. The moment we looked into her eyes, we knew she was the one. Tessie is a healthy, happy, well adjusted puppy with a terrific personality. She recently took the Canine Good Citizen test and passed with flying colors. She is very friendly toward every person or dog she meets, and though she never bites, she just might lick you to death!

Tessie is an excellent swimmer and never gets tired of fetching a big stick out of the water. She also loves to go for boat rides, and doesn't complain about having to wear her bulky orange life vest.

Tessie has a wonderful life. She is a sweet puppy who loves turkey, liver treats, long naps, walks with her friends, swimming and boat rides. Many of our friends say that Tessie is a lucky dog, but we feel lucky to have found her.

From,
Bill and Kimberly

Hi all-
I thought I'd write a follow up story about Twisty since everyone asks about him and we're coming up on the anniversary of us adopting him next week.

Since we adopted Twisty in December of 2006 he has brought us never ending joy and laughter. We've affectionately nicknamed him: "bum" because that's how he gets around, and boy does he get around. When he gets going he can run (or his version of it) faster than our other two cats. He has declared himself king of the castle and demands our attention 24/7 with his squeaky meow and we gladly spoil him rotten. His favorite thing is to be brushed with a comb or a back scratcher and he will reward you with as many licks to the face as you can stand (fish-breath!).  He also likes to greet people who come to our home with a roll-over to rub his belly and loud purring.  We enjoy taking him and our other handicapped cat, Gemini, who is missing an eye, up to Rangeley, Maine every summer where they all lounge on the screened in porch.

We also have a Maine coon cat that Twisty enjoys chasing after with his unwanted affections.  He retreats to his personal cat bed every night and wakes us up promptly every morning when he wants to be fed, then insists on getting into our bed to sleep away the day in a warm spot by the window.  He has no special medical problems due to his malformed legs but takes cosequin for his joint health.  Overall he is just a delight to have around and we are so thankful that he "scooted" into our lives 3 years ago. We look forward to visiting Cape Ann Animal Aid's new facility when it is finished and encourage anyone out there who is considering adopting a "handicapped' animal that it is worth it a thousand times over. Thank you again to the Animal Aid for being Twisty's home way back then and for all that you do for Cape Ann.

stan

CAAA,

We adopted Stan in June. He is very well adjusted and thinks that he owns the house. He and our two dogs Shelby and Lucy love each other and they pounce on top of each other all the time. He is an outdoor cat and is constantly coming in and out. Stan thinks that we are awake all night so he bites and nibbles on our toes all the time! Overall we are thrilled to have him in the house! Thank you so much!

Hi,
It has only been a few days but we wanted to let you know how well Molly (renamed from Bicha) is doing. We are crate training her and she is learning so fast. The first two night she did cry for about 15 minutes and then slept for 8 hours and last night she whimpered for about 30 seconds and went to sleep until I woke her up this morning.  She is pretty much house broken so I assume her sister Mandi may also be where they were together.

She is pretty good at walking on a leash and will be starting obedience school this week.  We have a pet rabbit who loves Molly and lets her kiss his face but only through his cage. We don't want to risk any mishaps as he does look like a stuffed toy.

She is a great puppy and we are having such a good time with her.  We would like to thank everyone at your shelter for making this such a rewarding experience for us.

I have attached a picture and will send you updates as she grows.

Best regards,
Debbie

mickey Hello!
We are writing to update you on Mickey, our Jack Russell Terrier/Shih Tzu mix that we adopted in March 09. (Mickey was part of a litter that included Dottie and Milo).
Well, we kept his name, because it suits him -his many black markings resemble Mickey Mouse ears! Our three daughters are absolutely crazy about him, and he seems very happy with us. Mickey is very active and loves to run and hike (he sets the pace and barks for us to keep up!). He is a very good match for our family, and we wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for rescuing him so that he could find us!
Sincerely,
The Grady Family

Hi Cape Ann,

I wanted to let you know that Dino (formally Duane) is doing really well. He is living like a King and enjoying every minute of it.:) He got used to our house really fast and loves going to the dog park near by to play with some new friends. We feel very lucky to have Dino with us and I'm sure he feels the same. Thank you for taking care of Dino before we got him. If I ever want to get another dog you can bet it will be from a shelter:)

Thank You!

ella Hi There,

I just wanted to let you guys know how great Ella (formerly Amare) is doing with us-she has totally settled in and is very happy. She loves all of us and our other dog Mighty; she loves the cats and the parrot too!! She is a little nut/goofball most of the time, but she is equally happy to cuddle. I've already started to knit her some sweaters for winter, and will be taking her to an Italian greyhound meetup soon. She walks great on the leash with Mighty and they are an adorable big/little dog pair. She's been to the vet and is perfect, and we absolutely adore her!!

Thanks so much to you all!!!

Juliette

Hello,

Just wanted to update you with our journey with Lucas (sato hound/beagle).  We adopted Lucas in June 2005, at first he was very shy and withdrawn.  Now he is the happiest go lucky dog around. He bounds around with our other dog Darla (jack russell terrier) and they are inseparable.  Lucas was diagnosed with Addison's disease in Nov. 2006, he is on daily medication and monthly shots to keep everything in check.  With the great care we receive from Dr. Powell at Cape Ann Vet. Hosp. and the love and affection he receives from everyone he meets he will live life like any other dog.  We are so happy to be blessed with such a wonderful companion.

Thank you so much!

maisie
Hi Everyone,

We adopted Maisie, formally known (as Pawlie) December, 06 and just wanted to give you an up date.

Maisie has brought such joy into our lives and we are so thankful that we have her!  Maisie is very well known in our neighborhood and has lots of friends that she loves to visit on her walks. After becoming a big "sister" August, 06, she has taken on the role of protector and best friend to our 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loves to hang out on her bed! Maisie is a treasured member of our family and extended family. She has even won over the heart of a "cat lover" and is now known as "grand puppy". (We never saw that one coming!)

Thanks again for all of your hard work!
Brandon, Kelly, Kelsy and Maisie

To The Cape Ann Animal Aid,

We adopted Elizabeth just over two weeks ago.  I just wanted to update you on how she is doing.  First of all we switched her name to Moxie.  She is getting used to that, we simply had too many humans with the name Elizabeth around. She continues to be a mellow puppy, but being a puppy she also has her very active moments.  It's a good thing we have two boys (ages 9 & 11) to help run off the energy. She has a big fenced-in backyard for her to run in.  When we go on walks she is constantly greeted by other people, she looks sad when some just walk by.  She definitely is a lap dog who loves people! Last weekend she went with me to one of the boy's baseball games. She sat so quietly and she met 3 new dog friends.  She goes in her crate at night (because we simply can't watch what goes in her mouth while we are sleeping) and the few times all of us are out of the house.

We love having a dog again! She enjoys being here as much as we enjoy having her.

Sincerely,
Chris

moxie Dear lovely animal guardians,

Moxy wanted me to report back to you since it's been a while since you've heard from us. Moxy is a healthy happy little lady with lots of love to share. She's getting along with her older brother (Kiwi) well and these days they spend lots of time outside lounging on the deck together in the sunshine or prancing around in the woods on walks. She's got those hound bones in her and when we go to the beach, birds beware! The ocean is the only safe spot for them, since going in up to her chest is about all she'll do at this point when it comes to swimming. I think last time we went down to the beach, Moxy ran the length of the beach back and forth 20 times in a row without skipping a beat. Anyway, just wanted to give you the update on the little lady of the house...Thanks again for everything you do!

xoxo

Hello,

I wanted to send you some pictures of Tod (fka Dario). We adopted "Dario" Easter weekend & decided to change his name (named by my son's favorite movie "The Fox & the Hound"). He has adapted very well in his new name, his new home and with his new family.  He is getting along very well with Jonquil (the family cat) although they do LOVE to torment each other from time to time.

Tod has grown so much since we have adopted him and he is so very smart and has already figured out how to use his selective hearing. We enjoy him so much and he is loved very much by us. He has also fallen in love with our neighbor who we refer to as his "uncle Joe". He loves to run and fetch sticks that are bigger than he is and he is very comically when he runs faster than his lanky legs can keep up.  He is awesome. Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt such a great dog.  We will definitely keep you updated with pictures.  Here are some when he first came home and some current.  We will try to make it to the reunion.

Thanks,
Paula & Family

butler
Hello,

I'm finally getting around to sending some pictures of Butler (formerly known as Nick). Butler is about 20 pounds and still growing slowly but surely. He knows his name very well, he knows how to sit and lay down (on a good day). He LOVES rawhide bones and digging holes at the beach... Butler can be found most days playing with the other dogs at daycare or taking naps with mom or dad. Thanks for everything you did for him!

Hi!!

I adopted Pedey (formally Pety) from CAAA March 15th. She is doing so great! She certainly is living the life here in North Reading. She attends Doggy DayCare 1 day a week and loves hanging with the dogs. She also enjoys visiting people at nursing homes, and is currently in therapy dog school.

She had no issues fitting in at all and has completed our family. She loves to play and go for walks, and loves LOVES loves treats! She has been cleared from her heart worm and is doing well with no more tumors (knock on wood). She loves going into PETCO and getting new toys and treats. She also loves sitting outside in the sun, or by a campfire at night.

Thank you so much for making this adoption possible!

Love,

sophie

Hi folks,

Amelia has a name changed to Sophie, which our 5 yr grandson named her...she has adjusted very well and we have had a lot of company to meet her and she has been very accommodating and showing off her skills. Today she is enjoying the peace and quiet of her new home and she is definitely a lap kitty ...loves to jump up when ever we are sitting down...she now even sleeps in our bedroom and was on the bed all night last night...she has her own space to get away on a fluffy mat by a window, which she loves...

Thank you soooooo much for this pleasure of owning a pet again and I will recommend you folks to everyone and hopefully will be able to add another donation soon.

Hello,

Buddy was the SATO we adopted on 7-02-2006 with the name of Ivan. We came back a year later to say "Hi" and confirm his real name was "Ivan theTerrible". You may remember him because of the deformation of his right hind paw or the line in his eye. We changed his name to Buddy on the way home in the car where he would not sit still or be held/contained in any way... Now, three years later I thought I would send you an update since we won't be able to make it to the reunion this year because it is the day after our daughter's wedding.

Buddy has a new best friend after loosing Chance, our Shepard mix in November 2007. His new friend, Sassy Cassie, is one of 18 Italian Greyhounds taken from a 90 degree attic in Epping, NH. Cassie and her mates were all in one crate and she still likes to sit pig pile style. Buddy has become very patient and accommodating with this!! The two get along like they have always been together.

We were concerned at first because Buddy is about 1 pound larger (which is a big weight percentage) and more rugged than her slight 9 1/2 pound build.  She pounces on him and grabs his color in her teeth and they play like they
were meant to be together.

Buddy sleeps along my body often with his head on my upper arm like a pillow.  He still has tons of energy but once he has spent it... he is like a limp rag doll when he
is tired.

I am enclosing a picture (not a great one-taken with a phone) of the two together. Hopefully we will take a ride down your way and stop in and say hi in the next month or two.

Thanks for our Buddy!!!!

CAAA,

I would like to update you on Lola (Camila). Lola is doing great and is truly a joy in our household.  She loves to cuddle at ALL TIMES and sleep under the covers.  She is a great running partner as well.  She is a burst of energy that can truly lighten anyone's day.  Lola loves to be outside. As long as she can lay in the sun, she is happy.  Fetch on the beach is something she enjoys as well.  She is always up for a run and the sand.  Thank you for saving her, it is hard to imagine life without Lola.

Hi,

My boyfriend and I adopted Peanut (formally known as Paola). She is a sweet heart. She does very well in doggy daycare; she is the little puppy thinking she is the biggest dog out there. At the dog park she is running and playing the whole time. She "hunts and tackles” the little dogs and plays ruff with the big ones. Even with all this energy she finds time to bake in the sun, which she seems to love more than playing around. Thank you so much to allowing us to make a part of our family. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone at Cape Ann Animal Aid! We adopted Floppie (now known as Daisy) and feel very lucky to have such a wonderful new addition to our family. We've attached a few photos so you can see how much she's grown!

Dear CAAA,

Roxy (Formerly Kayla) has settled in nicely to her new home.  At 5 months she sits, lays down gives paw and has few accidents in the house.  She loves playing with her new sister Bandit, our 1 year old blue heeler and cuddling up for a good belly rub with us.

oliver Hi,

We adopted Oliver (a sato) 5 years ago (January 16th). He was then known as Luciano.  Oliver is a great dog.  He remains very very timid. If something new arrives in the house he runs to the farthest point in the house until he
scopes it out.  But we are crazy about him.  We also have a cat also and they are our entertainment watching them play. He weighs 50 lbs. I know you were interested in how big satos got. Oliver loves to go for walks, loves to run up the field and enjoys his many toys. Everyone comments on what a great looking dog he is and ask about he origin. They are happy to hear about his adoption story. I would recommend adopting a sato to anyone.  Enjoy the picture!!

Sincerely,

Beverly

To Cape Ann Animal Aid:

We are amazed at how well Mobzy has quickly adjusted to our family.  His prior owners took very good care of him as he is house broken and very well behaved.  We are amazed at how smart he is.  His big sister, Roxie, just loves him and visa versa. They are very cute together as you can see from the attached photo.

Mobzy also loves to cuddle and we have nicknamed him "snuggle hound".  We both laugh that Roxie & Mobzy have taken over the bed and there is just enough room for the humans to hang off of each end.  He also loves to go for a ride in the truck and enjoys running around our backyard (weather permitting).

Mobzy was a "hit" at Thanksgiving. Our family was impressed
with how smart, well-behaved and loveable he is. He loved all the extra attention to say the least.

Thank you again for the opportunity to adopt him. In a short period of time he has brought so much love & joy into our household.  We can't imagine life without him.

Sincerely,
Susan & Solomon

hero_axel2

Hello!
I am happy to report that Hero (formally known as Axel) has adjusted to his new life of exercise, training and Doggie day care socialization with flying colors. He enjoys and needs 3 mile walks in the woods, dipping in the river and rough housing with his friends in Doggie Day Care and has learned dog social manners very quickly. He graduated top in his class in advanced puppy training. He won the Leave it contest, 3 minutes with a putrid summer sausage. He knows several commands: sit, down, stay, leave it, wait, stand, his name is his recall, ice, easy, touch, front, back and free time.

He really has come along way...He has done fabulous with his easy walk harness. He loves his raw hide bones which he chews appropriately, into small tiny pieces. He has settled a lot and can be lazy if you let him. He would kill for a walk in the woods or a lazy rainy day. Last night he alerted us from a dead sleep, very vocally, to a very large, hungry Black bear in our yard at the bird feeder.

I had a DNA panel done on him him. He came back as over 50% bull mastiff and 12.5% each of Mastiff and boxer. All the vets were impressed, they felt the test nailed it.

I want to thank all the great staff that cared and put up with him. He really had a lot of potential and has met it. Which I think you all knew and saw. Keep up the good work and good luck with the new shelter. I have recommended you to others. Thanks for my Working Class HERO.

Sincerely,

Hello,
My name is Zona and I adopted Sid (renamed Fred), a black and white pointer mix who was found by a hunter in GA, back in September of 2008. I just wanted to send an update to let you know that Fred is happy, healthy and well-adjusted to his new home.

Fred passed his obedience training class with flying colors at PetSmart. He is a smart, energetic puppy who is excited to meet people, dogs and cats alike. He has been a great addition to my life. He loves to go to the beach, play in the snow and run around the house with his favorite toys.

I am happy to report that Fred has been in excellent health. I took him to the vet shortly after bringing him home, but there was little for him to do. Fred received great care while he was with all of you! When I registered him for obedience training, the trainer told me she wishes everyone brought in puppies with such organized medical records.

I am really happy to have him in my life and thankful to all of you. I hope that I will be able to volunteer for Cape Ann Animal Aid in the near future. Thank you for everything! Take care.

-Zona

(Please note: If you adopted one of Fred's siblings and would like to contact Zona, please email CAAA and we'll provide the contact info!)

may_jinx Dear Cape Ann Animal Aid,

It's been a year since we adopted Jinx (formerly May) from you and we are delighted by the joy and love she has brought to our home! She talks constantly, loves to play "fetch" and generally keeps us entertained. She lived with you for over 9 months – I guess she was waiting for us to come and get her! She sleeps in the bed with us, under the covers with her head on the pillow – too cute!

Thanks again for bringing Jinx into our lives.

maiya Hello,
Maiya (formerly known as Marangie) is a very loveable mellow girl...she's learning to play with her toys. She is also a little scared to walk outdoors with me. I finally heard her bark and I was so happy she sounded so cute. Thanks again for this wonderful loving puppy. Maiya brings a lot of happiness to my life!

Thank You,
Renee

Dear All,

I am writing with an update on Gabby (formerly Gabbi) whom I adopted from Cape Ann Animal Aid in March 2006.
Gabby recently celebrated her 4th birthday (and 3rd adoption anniversary) and she is doing great. It has taken a while but she is now an outgoing and confidant young lady who does well with new human and canine friends that she meets.

I have attached a few recent photos and you can see she has really blossomed.

Dear Cape Ann Animal Aid,

Little Boy "Blue" (formerly Chester) had excellent vet check up and now weighs 2 lbs 11 oz. I think he still misses his old "gang" but... he does purr when I hold him. He's eating, drinking, and using his box like a pro. I am re-learning what it is like to keep a kitten safe and happy!

Thank You

petie petie 2
Hello,
As promised here are several pictures of Petie Rascal. As you can see he is enjoying his back yard and the other members of the "Rascal Pack". My older beagle, Donny Rascal is just over 3 years old and is the leader of the pack. My girl dog, Judy Rascal, a pretty little black & white beagle mix and is a year and a half old (both were rescue dogs).

Petie is fitting in nicely and has been having a great summer. The other dogs have taught him well. He comes and goes as he pleases from the kitchen to the fenced in back yard through the doggie door, hangs out with the other rascals under the kitchen table and occasionally gets to lounge on the sofa with the gang. He is doing well with his crate training, eating 3 meals a day. He sits, stays and shakes his paw on command. He is truly just about the best little dog I have ever encountered. With his sweet disposition (I often refer to him as "Sweet Pete") he is a joy to be around and a most welcome addition to my life and household. Many thanks to you folks at the shelter who do such wonderful work and for giving me the opportunity to adopt such a lovely puppy.

-Kim

Sammy was at our shelter waiting for a new home for nearly one year! His new family sent this picture of Sammy "happy in his new home with his new friend Willie."

Hi all,

We adopted a minpin named "Marissa" from you last October. I just wanted to let you know she's doing great. We renamed her Ava, she went through training classes and is a great little girl. She goes to doggy day camp about once a week and loves it. She has a huge personality! She won first prize in a doggy fashion show! Just wanted to let you know how good she's doing! We love her lots! Thanks for letting us adopt this wonderful dog!

Sincerely,
Patrick, Emily & Ava

P.S. We've attached a photo of the little girl, she was dressed for the 4th of July!
