Adoption Center
Our shelter guests receive specialized attention and socialization which includes hands-on attention, grooming, and care. Our dedicated staff begins basic training with the shelter dogs and makes every effort to rehabilitate animals with behavior issues. The potential adopter(s) spend time with our knowledgeable staff and various adoptable animals before an adoption. We strive to insure that each adoption match is successful and ever-lasting.
Community Outreach Programs
We are dedicated to providing opportunities for the public to learn more about shelter animals and the work of the CAAA. We periodically host school groups, Scout troops, and other community groups at the shelter to educate and strengthen the human-animal bond at every age. In addition, our volunteer orientations include a canine behavior and body language class to further enrich the knowledge of our volunteers. This class is also open to the general public.
Spay/neuter Assistance Program
We are a distributor of Friends of Animals low cost spay/neuter certificates. In addition, our shelter will cover the cost of a spay surgery for cats and dogs that have recently given birth. The mother and her offspring are fixed and the mother is returned to the owner while the others are adopted out through the shelter. Please call 978-283-6055 for more information.
Food for Pets Program
We have founded the Food for Pets Program. Through this program, donations of cat and dog food are collected at the shelter and regularly distributed to lower income families in the community to insure that they are able to keep their animal companions.
